Product Overview

The C2G C2G41490 250ft Performance Series High Speed HDMI Active Optical Cable (AOC) Plenum-Rated delivers 4K 60Hz HDMI over 250 feet of fiber strand cable with a CMP plenum jacket, meeting NEC fire code requirements for above-ceiling and in-wall installation without conduit in most jurisdictions. Rated for 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 with full HDR, eARC, and CEC support, this plenum HDMI AOC is built for auditoriums, classrooms, large conference centers, and any commercial AV installation where both long-distance signal integrity and plenum cable compliance are required.

Product Description

Active optical HDMI cables replace copper conductors with fiber strands that carry the HDMI signal immune to EMI and RFI critical in commercial AV environments with variable-speed motors, fluorescent ballasts, or dense network infrastructure. The C2G41490 is the plenum-rated version of the Performance Series AOC, adding CMP jacket compliance for direct above-ceiling installation.

Kevlar reinforcement and increased wire gauge provide pull strength for conduit runs and overhead cable pulls. The cable is directional the TX end connects to the HDMI source and the RX end connects to the display. Power is drawn from the source HDMI port in most installations with no external supply required. The C2G41490 is backed by a lifetime warranty and is the preferred choice for integrators specifying 4K HDMI in plenum environments at distances beyond copper cable capability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this cable need a plenum rating?

NEC and most local fire codes require plenum-rated (CMP) cable for installation in air-handling spaces such as above drop ceilings and HVAC plenums. Non-plenum cable in these spaces is a code violation. The C2G41490 CMP jacket allows direct above-ceiling installation without conduit in most jurisdictions.

What is the difference between C2G41490 and C2G41491?

The C2G41490 is 250ft with a plenum (CMP) jacket for above-ceiling installation. The C2G41491 is 300ft with a standard jacket. Choose based on your required run length and cable routing environment.

Does this cable require an external power supply?

No external power supply is required in most installations. The cable is powered by the HDMI source port. Some sources with limited power output may require a USB power injector, sold separately.

Can this cable be cut or field-terminated?

No. Active optical cables are factory terminated and cannot be cut or field-terminated. Excess length should be coiled in the ceiling cavity or equipment rack.

Is this cable compatible with 4K HDR sources?

Yes. The C2G41490 supports HDR10 (PQ) and HLG metadata pass-through for compatible 4K HDR sources and displays at the full 250ft distance.

What warranty does C2G provide?

The C2G41490 carries a lifetime warranty. Contact Creation Networks at for warranty claims and support.
