Product Overview

The Middle Atlantic U2MS is a 2-space (2U) vented center-mount utility rackshelf designed for 2-post relay racks. The shelf mounts at the center of the rack rail and extends 18 inches deep, supporting up to 50 lbs of equipment in front of the rackrails. A fully vented bottom aids equipment cooling, and built-in cable tie points on the front and rear edges keep wiring organized. Steel construction with a durable powder coat finish makes it a dependable choice for network and AV installations.

Product Description

Two-post racks are a staple of telecom closets and network rooms, but mounting non-rackable equipment in them requires a shelf engineered for center-of-rail support. The Middle Atlantic U2MS center mount rack shelf was designed specifically for 2-post racks, balancing its 18-inch deep platform at the rail so equipment weight is carried evenly rather than cantilevered off the front. It can also be used in other rack types to provide support in front of the rackrails when extra mounting surface is needed. The shelf occupies 2 rackspaces and supports up to 50 lbs, which covers modems, small switches, media converters, power supplies, and other freestanding devices. A fully vented bottom promotes airflow around equipment to aid cooling, an important consideration when stacking heat-producing network gear. Cable management tie points are built into both the front and rear edges, giving technicians convenient anchor locations for dressing cables directly at the shelf. Steel construction with a durable powder coat finish stands up to repeated equipment changes over the life of the installation. Unlike rail-mount utility shelves such as the Middle Atlantic U2 series, the U2MS centers the load on 2-post racks, making it the correct choice for relay rack applications.
