Product Overview

The AVPro Edge Weatherproof HDBaseT Cat6 Extender Kit extends 4K60 4:4:4 HDR video over a single Cat6 cable to 40 meters, and HD signals to 70 meters, in a housing rated for outdoor and harsh-environment deployment. Using ICT 18Gbps technology, the kit carries the full HDMI 2.0 signal without compression, preserving HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision metadata for connected displays. The weatherproof enclosures on both the transmitter and receiver protect internal electronics from moisture, dust, and temperature fluctuations, making this kit appropriate for outdoor digital signage, covered outdoor entertainment spaces, and any AV installation subject to environmental exposure. RS232, IR, and bi-directional power are integrated into the single Cat6 link alongside video and audio.

Product Description

Where standard HDBaseT extenders are limited to controlled indoor environments, this weatherproof kit extends the application range to covered outdoor areas, stadium concourses, exterior signage walls, pool decks, and any location where humidity, dust, or temperature swings would damage a standard unit. The ICT 18Gbps link ensures that the 4K image quality reaching an outdoor display is identical to what leaves the source: 4K60 with full 4:4:4 chroma, HDR10 or Dolby Vision tone-mapping data, and lossless audio including Dolby Atmos. Bi-directional power allows the installer to feed both units from whichever end of the run is closer to a power outlet a practical advantage in outdoor builds where conduit runs are expensive. RS232 and IR control signals travel the same Cat6 infrastructure, giving display management systems full reach to outdoor screens without additional low-voltage wiring. The I-Pass feature loops the HDBaseT signal to a second destination at the transmitter end, supporting multi-display outdoor zones from a single source.

Key Features

• Weatherproof / IP-Rated Enclosures Both transmitter and receiver housings are rated for outdoor and harsh-environment installation, protecting against moisture and dust.
• ICT 18Gbps Technology Carries the full HDMI 2.0 18Gbps signal over HDBaseT without compression, enabling 4K60 4:4:4 at the rated distance.
• 40m 4K HDR / 70m HD Range Delivers 4K with HDR to 40 meters and HD to 70 meters over a single Cat6 cable.
• Full HDR Pass-Through Passes HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision intact for connected outdoor displays.
• I-Pass Loop Output Loops the HDBaseT signal at the TX end to feed a second extender or matrix input without a splitter.
• Bi-Directional Power Power either unit from whichever end of the outdoor run has access to a supply, reducing conduit and power requirements.
• RS232 Pass-Through Serial control for outdoor display management reaches the far end over the Cat6 run.
• IR Pass-Through Bi-directional IR control extends remote management across the link.
• Dolby Atmos / DTS:X Audio Lossless immersive audio pass-through for outdoor entertainment venues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What environments is the weatherproof rating designed for?
The enclosures are rated for outdoor and harsh-environment use, protecting against moisture ingress and dust. They are appropriate for covered outdoor installations, poolside areas, and environments with high humidity or occasional water exposure. Consult AVPro Edge documentation for the specific IP rating and temperature range before deploying in direct rain or submerged conditions.

Is the Cat6 cable itself weatherproof?
The extender enclosures are weatherproof; the Cat6 cable is not included and must be rated for outdoor use separately. Use outdoor-rated or direct-burial Cat6 cabling for any exposed runs between the transmitter and receiver.

Can this kit connect to an indoor matrix or switcher at the source end?
Yes. The transmitter connects to any standard HDMI output via a short HDMI cable. The weatherproof housing is only relevant at the transmitter and receiver enclosures; the HDMI connection to the source remains a standard indoor connection.

How does this differ from the standard (non-weatherproof) 40m kit?
The video, control, and power specifications are identical. The difference is the enclosure: this kit uses weatherproof housings rated for outdoor deployment, while the standard kit uses slim indoor-grade housings. Choose this kit whenever either the transmitter or receiver will be in an outdoor or environmentally exposed location.
