Product Overview

The Huddly USB 3 AOC Cable (SKU: 7090043790443) provides a 5-meter Active Optical Cable USB 3.0 extension for Huddly IQ camera installations, paired with a 1-meter camera-side cable for a total effective reach of approximately 6 meters from the host. It is designed for rooms where a short to medium cable extension is needed to reach from the host computer to the camera position, and where the full 10m or 15m AOC cables would provide more length than necessary.

Product Description

Standard passive USB 3.0 cables are limited in practical length to approximately 3 meters before signal degradation affects device performance. The Huddly 5m AOC extension uses active optical fiber technology to maintain SuperSpeed USB 3.0 signal quality over the full 5-meter extension length. Combined with the included 1-meter camera-side cable, the assembly provides coverage for installations where the camera is positioned up to approximately 6 meters from the USB host port.

The cable connects USB-A male at the host end to USB-A female at the extension end, and draws power from the USB host port without requiring an external power supply or powered USB hub in the cable run. It is plug-and-play and transparent to the host operating system, requiring no driver installation. This shorter AOC option is well suited for smaller conference rooms, private offices, and installations where the display and the host computer are on the same side of the room or only a short distance apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the total reach of this cable assembly?
A: The AOC extension provides 5 meters of active optical extension. Combined with the included 1-meter camera-side cable, the total effective reach from host USB port to camera is approximately 6 meters (around 20 feet).

Q: When should I choose this cable over the 10m or 15m versions?
A: Choose this 5m AOC when the camera is within approximately 6 meters of the host port. Use the 10m version (SKU 7090043790450) for runs up to 33 feet, or the 15m version (SKU 7090043790436) for runs up to 49 feet.

Q: Does this cable require a powered USB hub?
A: No. The active electronics in the AOC draw power from the USB host port. No powered hub, power injector, or wall adapter is needed.

Q: Is this cable compatible with the Huddly IQ only?
A: This cable is specified by Huddly for use with the Huddly IQ camera. It is a standard USB 3.0 AOC and may function with other USB 3.0 peripherals, but Huddly supports its use with the IQ specifically.

Q: Can this AOC be chained with another USB extension?
A: Daisy-chaining USB active extensions is not a supported configuration for USB 3.0 and may cause reliability issues. If a longer run is required, use the 10m or 15m AOC cable instead.
