Product Overview

The Middle Atlantic VBK-PTRK26 is a vent blocker kit designed for the PTRK series rack enclosure at 26-inch depth, used to prevent hot air recirculation when top-mount exhaust fans are installed. By blocking unused ventilation openings on the upper front, sides, and rear of the enclosure, this kit directs heated air through the top-mounted fans rather than allowing it to short-circuit back to the equipment intake. Proper thermal management in populated AV and IT racks depends on eliminating these airflow bypass paths, and the VBK-PTRK26 provides a pre-sized, magnetized solution for the PTRK 26D enclosure specifically.

Product Description

When top-mount fans are used in a rack enclosure, they create negative pressure zones that can draw hot exhaust air back through perforated panels and door vents near the top of the enclosure, reducing cooling efficiency and potentially causing equipment overheating. The VBK-PTRK26 vent blocker kit addresses this by providing magnetized panels sized specifically for the PTRK 26D enclosure to cover top vents, side panel vents, and rear door vents that would otherwise allow air recirculation. The magnetized attachment method makes installation and removal quick, with no tools required, allowing technicians to add or adjust vent blockers as fan configurations change. The kit includes all necessary pieces pre-sized for the PTRK 26D enclosure, eliminating field trimming. This approach to active thermal management is particularly important in densely loaded AV racks where heat-generating amplifiers, power conditioners, and signal processors are stacked. Proper use of vent blockers in combination with top-mount fans is recommended by Middle Atlantic as part of their active cooling strategy for enclosed rack systems.

Key Features

• Magnetized Attachment Vent blocker panels attach without tools and can be repositioned as rack configuration changes.
• Pre-Sized for PTRK 26D No field trimming required; kit includes pieces sized to fit specific vent locations on the PTRK 26-inch depth enclosure.
• Prevents Air Short-Circuiting Blocks upper vent openings so exhaust air from equipment is directed through top-mount fans rather than recirculated.
• Covers Top, Side, and Rear Vents Complete kit addresses all upper enclosure vent locations that contribute to hot air recirculation.
• Supports Active Thermal Management Works in conjunction with top-mount exhaust fans to maintain effective rack cooling in populated enclosures.
