Simultaneous interpretation setups are unforgiving of power failures: when an IC-2 console loses power mid-session, an entire language channel goes silent. The TFP 044 is the vendor-specified supply for the IC-2, delivering 18 VDC at 1 A through the correct connector, and the same part also powers the PLA 90 personal loop amplifier used in counter and small-area hearing loop applications. Its universal switching input accepts 100240 VAC at 5060 Hz, so consoles that travel between domestic and international venues need only a region-appropriate cord. At 0.4 lb it adds almost nothing to an interpretation kit case.
