Like every shelf in the RSH4S line, its textured black powder-coat steel faceplate is custom cut at the factory for the specific AV equipment you identify at order time. The wide format adds lateral room for broad-chassis devices such as Ethernet switches, network storage units, and consumer electronics that exceed standard shelf width. It installs in any EIA-standard 19″ rack or enclosure with no modification.

A 17.5″ deep shelf covers the majority of mid-depth AV and network components without consuming the full depth of the rack. The RSH4S2XW pairs that practical depth with the wide 2U format, so components too broad for a standard custom rackmount shelf still mount on-center with a clean faceplate reveal. Middle Atlantic’s custom-cut process produces an opening matched to your device’s front panel, which means controls and displays stay accessible while surrounding gaps disappear. The steel construction carries equipment loads typical of switches, storage systems, and source components. Its textured black powder-coat finish blends with standard rack panels and blanks, so the shelf reads as a built-in part of the rack rather than an accessory.
